It’s very tempting and a natural thing to start comparing yourself to others. Thinking, well there is no need for me to do this if I can’t run that fast, go that far, lift that weight, push myself that hard. Or, I don’t belong here because I don’t look like him or her. But, all of those things are lies! There will most likely always be someone faster, stronger or with more endurance. That is why you should compare you to you and nobody else. If you got off of the couch today and did something you have not done in a long time or possibly ever, then you are improving. Screw what the OTHER people are doing or have done. I bet they are not even thinking about you and chances are they have their own doubts as well. It is ok to make mistakes and feel awkward, we all do that when we do something new. But, keep pushing forward and when you start to doubt yourself or thinking you don’t fit, just remember why you started in the first place.
